Drunken driving homicide charges dropped after Chilton defendant's death

Drunken driving homicide charges filed against a Chilton woman following a March 2025 crash were dismissed after the woman died, according to court records.

A 73-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, both from the New Holstein area, died March 5, 2025, after their car was struck head-on by another vehicle traveling the wrong way on State 57 near Shady Lane in the Town of Charleston, according to a criminal complaint.

Vicky Fesing, 59, of Chilton, was charged Aug. 13, 2025, with two counts each of homicide by the intoxicated use of a vehicle and homicide by the use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration in connection to the crash.

Fesing was driving the car that crashed head-on with the New Holstein couple and her blood alcohol content at the time was 0.171%, the complaint said. The legal limit is 0.08%.

The charges against Fesing were dismissed June 1, according to court records. The state moved to dismiss the charges after Fesing died, according to the motion.
