The signs are up marking the closure of Northview Road between Tallgrass Circle and Meadowbrook Road. The project, which picks up where the 2018 project ended, involves the complete reconstruction of the road, minus the kind of utility work that caused such a long delay in project completion last year.

DOT to close Highway 16 for three nights to fix buckling pavement in Pewaukee area

Whether or not it was hot enough for you, it’s been too hot for area roads, and another pavement heave will force overnight closures to fix one on Highway 16 near the Village of Pewaukee.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation posted signs on July 7 notifying motorists that an eastbound stretch of the state highway from the Main Street area in the village to Interstate 94 will undergo repairs on three nights, beginning July 8-9 and ending July 10-11.

The unexpected reason: a section of buckled pavement in the eastbound lanes of Highway 16, according to Chris Verhyen, regional communication manager for WisDOT.

The closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Verhyen said all eastbound traffic will be routed off at Main Street onto county Highway T, a north-south segment that parallels Highway 16. From there, traffic intending to remain eastbound can access I-94. Westbound traffic on Highway 16, which is a fully divided road in that segment, will not be affected by the three-night closure.
