'Doc, that's my name?': Austin Rivers interviews his dad before Bucks-Cavs game

Instead of a father-son game Monday night, Nov. 17 it was a father-son pregame.

Prior to the matchup between the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers, Peacock sideline reporter Austin Rivers briefly interviewed Bucks coach Doc Rivers.

And the elder Rivers appeared to slip into the patriarch role quickly before the interview even got started when Austin opened the spot by calling his dad by the name he goes by.

“‘Doc,’ that’s my name?” Doc Rivers asked.

“Tonight,” Austin responded through some laughter. “Alright? Tonight, tonight.”

“OK, I’ll give you that,” Doc added.

The fun continued when Austin asked if he looked forward to him “hovering” around the Bucks’ huddles.

“You’ve hovered around me my whole life,” Doc quipped. “So this part will be easy, I’m hoping.”

With both now laughing, Doc added quick and familiar parenting advice.

“Don’t say anything you shouldn’t say,” he said.

Unfortunately, the mood changed in the second quarter when Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo injured his groin in Milwaukee’s 118-106 loss.
