What’s next?

Figueroa made his initial appearance in court March 24, appearing by Zoom with a privately hired attorney. He is scheduled to return to court April 1 for his preliminary hearing.

At the initial appearance, defense attorney John D’Angelo requested $2,500 bail, while Assistant District Attorney Lisa Kaster requested $5,000 bail.

Figueroa’s bail was set at $5,000, with the court commissioner noting he has previously shown a willingness to ignore the law regarding driving.

Kaster said the two current operating while revoked charges represent two victims who have suffered great bodily harm and there are potentially several others who may have great bodily harm injuries.

A victim appearing by Zoom from a hospital said she thought bail should be $5,000 and said Figueroa “messed up my life.”
