While Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor is known for educating advanced junior high and high school music students during the summer months, adults have similar opportunities in August with Birch Creek’s 2026 Adult Music Retreats, which recently were announced and are now taking applications.
These retreats offer three immersive four-day programs designed for adult musicians to enhance their skills in a supportive and inspiring environment. Each one includes not just instruction from music professionals but also the opportunity to perform in public concerts at the end of each programs. Tuition includes continental breakfast and lunch, and dormitory housing on the Birch Creek campus is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Our Adult Music Retreats embody Birch Creek’s dedication to lifelong learning and artistic exploration,” executive director Jenna Ferdon said in a news release. “These programs provide a supportive, inspiring environment where adult musicians can grow, collaborate and share their music with others who share their passion.”

Entering its 51st season, Birch Creek Music Performance Center is a unique summer academy with a performance emphasis for advanced young music students that offers two-week residential summer sessions in Percussion, Steel Pan and World Music; Symphony; and Big Band Jazz (two separate sessions). The students, who come from across the country, rehearse and perform alongside their teachers, renowned professionals who also come from across the country, during the day, then play alongside them in concerts at night in the 500-seat Dutton Concert Barn on the Birch Creek campus. Proceeds from all Birch Creek events and concerts provide support for Birch Creek students.
