Former Gator Micah Handlogten signs Exhibit 10 deal with Utah Jazz

Following Xaivian Lee’s Exhibit 10 deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, another former Gator signed a deal as well. Former Florida basketball center Micah Handlogten gets a shot at making an NBA roster, and it’s only fitting that it’s from the same team that his father played for.

The next day, following the conclusion of the 2026 NBA Draft, media outlets reported that Handlogten had agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Utah Jazz. The Florida Gators’ official X account confirmed the reports by posting a tweet saying Handlogten has signed.

An Exhibit 10 deal is virtually the lowest tier of NBA contracts — it is a one-year, non-guaranteed minimum-salary contract that allows players to participate in summer league training camp and play for the team during the summer league sessions. However, there is no guarantee that they will get long-term contracts beyond that point. Exhibit 10 deals however, does allow franchises to retain their G League rights.

Handlogten’s father, Ben Handlogten, had an extensive playing career overseas before playing 2 seasons with the Utah Jazz, only totaling 38 games for the franchise from 2003 to 2005.

The younger Handlogten spent three seasons with the Gators before entering the transfer portal in April. However, remaining in college required an eligibility waiver from the NCAA for his medical redshirt season, which was voided when he returned to join the 2025 championship-winning team. Instead, he decided to make his move to the professional level.

The 7-foot-1-inch center appeared in 83 games and made 34 starts during his Florida career, averaging 4.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game.

After recovering from a season-ending leg injury suffered late in the 2023-24 campaign, he returned to provide valuable frontcourt depth during the Gators’ 2025 national title run. In the championship game against Houston, he finished with two points, four rebounds, two assists and one block.
