For several weeks, moviegoers visiting the ACX Theater at the Bayshore Mall in Glendale have been met with shuttered doors.
The ACX Entertainment Center is “temporarily closed due to an electrical issue,” according to notices seen taped to the doors on Sept. 15 and still there on Sept. 24. The doors also show several UPS missed-delivery notifications dating back as early as Sept. 4.

It’s not just the six movie screens and luxury heated recliners that are now closed to the public. The entire second floor rotunda, including the arcade, bowling alley and Backlot Pizza + Kitchen bar and restaurant are also closed.
On Sept. 25, the theater’s website said: “There are no showings available at this time,” but it also advertised movies releasing as soon as Sept. 26.
Bayshore Mall representatives told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the situation is being handled by the theater’s management company, ACX Cinemas, based in Omaha, Nebraska. However, several attempts to reach ACX Cinemas over the past eight days were unsuccessful in obtaining a response or projected reopening date.
According to a Sept. 17 statement from Bayshore, “Our tenant, ACX Movie Theater, has reported that it is currently closed due to electrical issues impacting its operations. While we understand the inconvenience this may cause for our guests, ACX and its corporate team are managing the situation directly.”
The ACX theater opened in late 2023 and was the first new movie theater to open in the Milwaukee area since 2019. The center was built into the former iPic Entertainment space in Bayshore’s rotunda at 5750 N. Bayshore Drive after the iPic theater closed in 2018.
ACX Cinemas has seven total locations in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin, according to the company’s website. These other locations all still have showings listed online.
