WAUSAU − Two people are dead and two people were injured in a head-on crash Friday night on State 52 in Marathon County.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 10 p.m. Sept. 26 on State 52, near Forest Lawn Road, in the town of Wausau.
Two people died at the scene, one person received serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital and another person was treated at the scene, according to a news release from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
State 52 was closed for about six hours while investigators processed the scene and emergency crews worked to clear the roadway, according to the release.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wausau Police Department, Town of Wausau Fire and FIrst Responders, City of Wausau Fire and EMS, the Marathon County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Marathon County Highway Department.
