The city of Wichita Falls on Thursday posted on Facebook its first conceptual renderings of University Town Center, the property formerly known as Sikes Senter.
Forward Wichita Falls, the city’s economic development arm, referred to the project as “The Corridor at University Town Center Project.”
The posting also includes financial and due diligence documents and projects a developer will be selected in August with sale of the property targeted for January 2027.
It also projects construction will begin in March 2027.
The city, through its Economic Development Board, bought the 50-year-old mall on Oct. 15 for $27.5 million with $18 million financed through a loan at American National Bank and Trust.
The stated plan was to demolish the mall and build something new in its place, including a stadium for nearby Midwestern State University.
