The 2025 Club World Cup has cut its field in half, and the country with the most teams heading to the single-elimination part of the tournament is … Brazil!
As expected, Europe was dominant in the group stages as nine of its 12 teams advanced, but those nine represent six different countries. Brazil, meanwhile, advanced all four teams that qualified for the tournament to the round of 16.
The rest of the world accounted for just two spots, including Lionel Messi and Inter Miami as well as Mexico’s Monterey (Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal rounds out the field).
When the knockout stage begins with the Round of 16 Saturday, order is expected to return. The seven betting favorites to win the tournament are all European, headlined by European champion Paris Saint-Germain, who have a powerhouse matchup in the round of 16 against Messi’s Inter Miami team.
