Wichita Falls residents may have to duck thunderstorms to enjoy outdoor activities this Labor Day weekend.
The National Weather Service predicts storms through Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms were predicted to begin after 1 a.m. Saturday and continue until Sunday night.
Rainfall over a half-inch is predicted.
The service predicts rain could will be gone by Monday, and North Texans will have sunny skies and a high of 85 degrees on Labor Day.
Sunny skies and mild temperatures are predicted for most of the first week of September with the possibility of showers returning to the forecast on Thursday.
So far in 2025, Wichita Falls has received 29.54 inches of rain, putting it nearly 11 inches above normal for this date in the year.
Water Data for Texas reported the city’s primary reservoirs, lakes Arrowhead and Kickapoo, remained more than 90 percent full on Friday and Lake Kemp was at 100% of capacity.
