The Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team will participate in the 2026 Players Era Tournament during Thanksgiving week.
While the tournament is expanding to 24 teams, eight of them will compete in the first bracket with the Red Raiders, and 15 other teams will compete in a second tournament. Both tournaments will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and this is the third year of the event, which started as an eight-team event before expanding to 18 last year.
“College basketball is the hottest and one of the fastest-growing sports properties in the country. The players have never been better, and record ratings for early season college basketball reflect that. Led by top programs from multiple conferences across the sport, the teams in our field are stronger than ever. We can’t wait to bring March to November with the number one college basketball network in the world, ESPN.”
Texas Tech will be competing in the Players Era 16, alongside the Alabama Crimson Tide, Baylor Bears, Creighton Bluejays, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas State Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Maryland Terrapins, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, San Diego State Aztecs, St. John’s Red Storm, Tennessee Volunteers, and TCU Horned Frogs. They will announce a schedule and more information closer to the tournament.
Texas Tech is looking to build on a 23-11 performance last season, where they lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Alabama, who they could potentially play in the tournament. The Red Raiders have landed three players in the transfer portal to bolster their roster, with four-star prospect Cruz Davis headlining the group.
