The 2025-26 Texas high school boys basketball season was full of surprising finishes, outstanding individual achievements and memorable postseason moments.
Now with the high school hoops season officially in the books, it’s time to answer a major question – Who was the Big Country’s best boys basketball player during the 2025-26 season?
We want to hear from you! The Reporter-News has selected 16 of the Big Country’s top high school boys basketball players as finalists for the 2025-26 Readers’ Choice All-Big Country Boys Basketball MVP.
Finalists were selected based upon statistics, individual accolades, team success and feedback from area coaches.
The Readers’ Choice All-Big Country Boys Basketball MVP poll will open on Tuesday, May 12, and close at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 25.
Here is a closer look at every candidate for the Abilene Reporter-News’ Readers’ Choice All-Big Country Boys Basketball MVP for the 2025-26 Texas high school basketball season:

Jarrell Best, Roscoe, Sr.
Best – a Class 2A TABC All-State honoree – averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 steals for the Plowboys.
Blake Britting, Albany, Fr.
Britting burst onto the Big Country basketball scene for the Lions in his freshman season, scoring 17.3 points per contest on his way to Class 2A TABC All-Region honors.
Caleb Browne, Westbrook, Sr.
Browne tallied 20.3 points, 3.1 assists and an area-leading 4.0 steals per game to net a Class 1A TABC All-Region selection.
Coy Evans, Forsan, Jr.
Evans shined in the Buffaloes’ backcourt during the 2025-26 Texas high school basketball season, collecting Class 2A TABC All-Region honors after putting up a team-high 18.4 points per contest.
Colt Gentry, Jayton, Sr.
Gentry helped lead the Jaybirds to their third straight UIL boys basketball state championship and earned a Class 1A TABC All-State nod after recording 25 points and eight rebounds in the state title game.
Austin Hardin, Stephenville, Jr.
Hardin was recognized as the All-District Co-Offensive MVP of District 6-4A and led the Yellow Jackets to their first playoff victory in eight years with a 20-point performance in the bi-district round of the 4A DI UIL Boys Basketball Playoffs.
Keegan Hayes, Benjamin, Jr.
Hayes made a name for himself as one of the Big Country’s premier shooters, earning Class 1A TABC All-Region honors after tallying 18.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 5.5 steals per game this season.
Aidyn Lee, Goldthwaite, Jr.
Lee shined for the Eagles in a breakout junior season where he surpassed the 1,000-career points mark while guiding Goldthwaite to a 27-4 record and third-round playoff appearance by averaging 14.4 points, 4.1 assists and 2.6 steals per contest.
Hunter Pack, Huckabay, Jr.
Pack – a Class 1A TABC All-State selection – managed to separate himself on one of the Lone Star State’s deepest 2A basketball teams, racking up 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game for the 36-3 Indians on their run to the UIL state semifinals.
Ry Reed, Gordon, Sr.
Reed solidified his status as a Class 1A TABC All-State point guard as the captain of the Longhorns’ potent offense, tallying 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.5 steals per contest.
Brooks Reese, Abilene High, Sr.
Reese received Class 5A TABC All-Region honors after leading the Eagles to a District 4-5A title on the strength of 14.0 points, 5.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game.
Swade Sipe, Abilene Wylie, Sr.
Sipe accounted for 18.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game for the Bulldogs to earn Class 5A TABC All-Region honors.
Carter Toof, Cisco, Sr.
Roof was recognized as a Class 2A TABC All-Region honoree and finished a stellar senior season as the Big Country’s leading scorer by racking up 29.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals per contest.
Levi Vahlenkamp, Stamford, Jr.
Vahlenkamp was one of the Big Country’s most prolific scorers during the 2025-26 season, earning a Class 2A TABC All-Region nod after amassing 22.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
Jesse Villebrun, Clyde, Sr.
Villebrun was a major reason for Clyde’s success during his strong senior season, as the Class 3A TABC All-Region selection accounted for 15.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest.
Jariyis Williams, Munday, Sr.
Williams helped lead the Moguls to the UIL state semifinals during a sensational senior season where he averaged 14.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.0 block per game to earn Class 1A TABC All-State honors.
