Ben Wilson of the Coronado High School baseball/football teams was voted the El Paso Children’s Hospital High School Male Athlete of the Year. He was the starting quarterback on the football team and was named All-State in baseball, helping lead Coronado to a District 1-6A title.
Wilson earned 22,715 votes, followed by El Dorado soccer player Alex Orquiz with 19,176 votes and El Paso High distance runner Miles Westbrook with 2,113 Votes.
The 2024-25 high school sports season featured several standout individual athletes who achieved success in one or more sports throughout the year.
Throughout the school year, the El Paso Times’ El Paso Children’s Hospital High School Athlete of the Week highlighted the individual accomplishments of El Paso athletes. However, in this week’s poll, the El Paso Times sought to recognize nominees for Male Athlete of the Year.
Athletes in all varsity sports were eligible to be selected. In this end-of-the-school-year poll, voters voted for some of the top male athletes from this past school year.
