Longtime Corpus Christi high school baseball coach and current Veterans Memorial head coach Lee Yeager has been diagnosed with cancer according to a Facebook post and the school’s baseball booster club is raising funds to help with associated medical costs.
Yeager, who led Carroll to a state championship prior to his stint with the Eagles, has been diagnosed with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The VMHS Eagles Baseball Booster Club is selling T-shirts at https://vmhs-baseball-booster.square.site/teamyeager, with all the proceeds going to the Yeager family to assist with his mounting medical bills and associated costs.
Yeager is the only baseball coach Veterans Memorial has had since it opened in 2015. He led them to the 2018 Class 5A state baseball tournament.
The VMHS baseball booster club website also has a place for those wishing to donate to the family in lieu of buying a shirt.
The social media post said Yeager has already begun medical treatments.
Those interested in reaching out to the booster club to discuss ways to contribute can contact them by email at vmhsbaseballbooster@gmail.com.
