Former UTEP football players Solo Barnes and Neil Campbell have gotten tryouts as unrestricted free-agents to give themselves a shot at the NFL.
Barnes will get his shot with the New Orleans Saints, while Campbell was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No details of their deals were immediately available.
The safety Barnes was third on UTEP’s team in the 2025 season with 66 tackles and led the squad with two interceptions and four pass breakups.
The cornerback Campbell had 56 tackles and was second on the team behind Barnes with three pass breakups.
