Texas A&M baseball secured its fifth straight SEC series on Sunday, as the Aggies claimed a 5-1 win over the Florida Gators in the series finale at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville.
Right-hander Weston Moss made the start on the mound for Texas A&M in Game 3. The junior from Spring, Texas, recorded two strikeouts while allowing four hits and two walks against the Gators. Meanwhile, the Aggies’ lineup returned to form against Florida’s talented pitching staff.
After extending his season home run total to 14 in Game 2, first baseman Gavin Grahovac put Texas A&M on the board first with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. Second baseman Chris Hacopian followed Grahovac with a sac fly to put the Aggies up 2-0 over the Gators early in the contest.
A wild pitch from Florida pitcher Russell Sandefer scored Bear Harrison in the fourth to make it 3-0 in the Maroon and White’s favor, but designated hitter Caden McDonald responded with an RBI single to put Florida on the board entering the fifth.
Jorian Wilson’s solo home run in the sixth and Harrison’s solo shot in the top of the ninth put the game out of reach for the Gators, as the Aggies improved to 33-8 (14-6 SEC).
While Texas A&M’s powerful offensive attack was the talk of Game 3, Texas A&M also received impressive performances from Moss, Gavin Lyons and Clayton Freshcorn in the win.
Lyons entered the game in relief of Moss, posting two strikeouts and allowing one hit in 3 innings of work. The Guilford, Connecticut, native earned the win, while Freshcorn secured the save with one strikeout and three hits in 2 innings on the bump.
Texas A&M will face Tarleton State in a nonconference matchup on Tuesday night at Blue Bell Park. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT and can be streamed on SEC Network+.

The Aggies secure their fifth straight SEC series win, with a 5-1 victory over the Gators in the series finale. The massive road win over the Gators and a Georgia loss against Ole Miss would put Texas A&M in sole possession of first place in the SEC standings.
