Trump passport design revealed: Why it may be hard to get one

A commemorative passport honoring America’s 250th anniversary and featuring President Donald Trump is now available to order.

The passport was created by the State Department to “commemorate the historic occasion of America’s 250th anniversary.”

“This special passport has custom artwork and enhanced images on the front, back, and inside covers. It has all the same advanced security features that make the U.S. passport the most secure travel and identity document in the world,” the State Department’s website says.

The inside front cover features an image of Trump, standing behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, while the inside back cover features a photo depicting the Founding Dathers presenting the draft of the Declaration of Independence to the Continental Congress in 1776.

Applying for the commemorative passport won’t be easy, though.

According to the State Department website, the special commemorative passport is being issued at the Washington Passport Agency in Washington, D.C. Applicants seeking the commemorative passport may schedule an in-person appointment at the Washington Passport Agency or apply at the following special passport acceptance events:

Appointments are limited and will be released two weeks before each event.

You can call 1-877-487-2778 and select menu option 9 to schedule an appointment, according to the State Department website.

The website clarifies that you will NOT get a commemorative passport if you apply online, mail in your application, apply at an acceptance facility or apply at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
