Here’s a look at the top five plays from the first half of the Week 7 NFC East Showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.
5. Brandon Aubrey breaks another record with 61-yard field goal
With the Cowboys in solid control and sporting a nine-point lead, they took over again just short of midfield, with just under 11 minutes remaining in the first half. They were able to gain 11 total yards due to several backwards penalties and ended up settling for a field goal attempt from the middle of the star.
That of course brought out Brandon Aubrey, who calmly split the uprights on a 61-yard kick, with around 10 yards to spare. It was his fifth career 60-plus yarder, breaking a tie he had with former Cowboys kicker Brett Maher.
4. George Pickens’ 24-yard over shoulder catch
Following Washington’s safety-and-ensuing TD score, the Cowboys started off at their own 40-yard line. QB Dak Prescott immediately went to work, looking for George Pickens along the right sideline. Throwing up a rainbow, the ball settled in Pickens arms over his shoulder, and he was able to fall to a knee before going out of bounds for the beautiful reception.
3 and 2. Deep bomb to Pickens for 44 yards, 33-yard run by Javonte Williams
1. CeeDee Lamb’s 74-yard Touchdown Catch
The Cowboys had retaken the lead, 10-8, and forced a three-and-out and a punt. Starting from their 26, Prescott again like on the previous drive, wanted to go big. Slot receiver extraordinaire CeeDee Lamb was open from the jump, racing down the seam. He threw his hand up, and even though Prescott was a little late seeing him, they were able to connect for the beautiful catch-and-run score.
