The Falls in Wichita Falls will be turned off indefinitely.
“Due to the overall condition of the Falls, they will need to remain off indefinitely until a long-term solution and plan have been developed,” the city said in a news release Monday.

The artificial falls were recently closed for cleaning, maintenance and evaluation of the structure, pump facilities and controls.
“City staff anticipate a completed assessment with repair recommendations towards the end of the year. At that time a thorough and long-term plan of action will be developed,” the release said.
The original falls for which the city is named washed away in a flood in the 1800s. The 54-foot manmade waterfalls was built in 1987.
In June, the city’s Sales Tax Corporation board agreed to pay up to $130,000 to an engineering firm for a study of possible improvements for the attraction.
The release said access to the trail at the Falls will remain open.
