Texas A&M’s Maroon & White served as the final scrimmage of the offseason for third-year coach Mike Elko and his newly formed roster, hoping that the progress made on both sides of the ball over the last month would come to fruition on the field. However, the injury to senior linebacker Daymion Sanford placed a cloud over an already gloomy afternoon in College Station.
Still, former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Horton put on a show, reeling in over 80 yards and making one of the more impressive catches you’ll see this offseason off a back-shoulder throw from sophomore quarterback Brady Hart, who was equally impressive in the pocket.

Redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed didn’t have a banner day, which was expected given Elko’s plan to play every active quarterback on the roster, especially Brady Hart and freshman Helaman Casuga, but the Tennessee native made several impressive throws in the middle of the field, especially when connecting with star wideout Mario Craver.
Without getting too far ahead, Colorado transfer safety Tawfiq Byard stood out on defense, while freshman cornerback Brandon Arrington made one of the more impressive plays, creating a pass breakup off one of Marcel Reed’s better deep passes on the day.
Again, Texas A&M’s spring season can’t be accurately graded, but heading into the summer, Daymion Sanford’s health status will be the primary concern before fall camp begins in early August.
