Venezuela and Italy will play Monday, March 16. The United defeated the Dominican Republic, 2-1, on Sunday night.
Venezuela defeated Japan, which was the reigning champion in the WBC in the quarterfinals. Italy has won all five games at this tournament and knocked off Puerto Rico to reach the WBC semifinals for the first time.
