OKLAHOMA CITY — A total of five Texas Tech softball players were named All-Americans by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association prior to the start of the 2026 season. That number has now grown to nine.
The NFCA announced its All-Americans on Wednesday ahead of the start of the Women’s College World Series at Devon Park. Texas Tech earned a total of four selections on the three teams, tied with Oklahoma and Florida State for the most of any team in the country.
Kaitlyn Terry became the second Red Raider to earn first-team NFCA All-American honors, joining NiJaree Canady who was honored last season. Terry was selected as an at-large utility player. Canady (pitcher) and Mia Williams (second base) were second-team selections while Jackie Lis was a third-team honoree.
“It’s definitely a blessing,” Terry said. “I couldn’t be here without any of my coaches and my team, but the preparation that we all have put in this year is insane, but I just give my hat off to Coach (Gerry) Glasco).”
Terry, the UCLA transfer, has been a dominant dual threat for the Red Raiders this season, owning a 24-1 pitching record with a 1.68 ERA and leading the team with a .457 batting average to go with career-high numbers at the plate in every category, including 10 home runs, 80 total hits, 55 RBI and a team-leading .457 batting average.
Canady is now a three-time NFCA All-American and the first Red Raider to earn multiple selections for the organization after being named a first-team selection and national pitcher of the year in 2025. She holds a 25-6 record in the circle this season, surpassing 1,000 career strikeouts and 100 career victories, while holding a 1.78 ERA and 226 total strikeouts.
Williams has set the new Texas Tech single-season records with 24 home runs, 82 RBI (tied for seventh in the nation), 86 runs scored (fourth), 22 doubles and 177 total bases.
Lis is just behind Williams on the single-season home run record, tied for second with 20 on the season to go with a .439 batting average and 71 RBI. The Southern Illinois transfer said she didn’t expect to be named an All-American after having to earn her spot in Tech’s starting lineup this season but is appreciative of the recognition.”
“I immediately texted my family just to let them know because they care more about stuff like that than I do,” Lis said. “So they were probably happier to hear it than I was, but nonetheless, I’m just very grateful that I was selected, but I think they were even more excited for me.”
