The college football season is getting closer, and Wednesday afternoon gave us a chance to do some scheduling.
Game times for a bunch of early-season games were announced, including for the first two matchups on the Texas Tech Red Raiders slate. The Red Raiders will host Abilene Christian in a 6 p.m. CT kickoff on FOX Sports 1 before traveling to Oregon State a week later for a 6:30 p.m. CT start on CBS.
Before Wednesday’s announcement, a couple of kickoff times had already been announced for Texas Tech; 7 p.m. CT in the Big 12 opener against the Houston Cougars, and 7 p.m. CT the regular-season finale against the TCU Horned Frogs on Thanksgiving Night.
This is now four games on the schedule at either 6 p.m. CT or later for the Red Raiders, with a possibility of more, as schedules continue to be finalized. What will be interesting to see is how many of these games, if any, quarterback Brendan Sorsby is able to play in as he continues to fight the NCAA for eligibility following his gambling scandal this spring.
All additional game times and television designations for the remaining eight games on Texas Tech’s schedule will fall under either a 12-day or 6-day selection window, per the Big 12’s television agreement with FOX, ESPN and TNT.
