It’s official! The road to Oklahoma City will run through Lubbock. For the second straight season, Texas Tech softball will host an NCAA Regional in Lubbock after earning a coveted top-16 national seed in the NCAA Tournament field, giving the Red Raiders home-field advantage for opening weekend. The Lady Raiders are seeded No. 11 overall, with the regional will be played at Tracy Sellers Field in Lubbock, Texas, from Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17.
The selection marks yet another milestone for a Tech program that has quickly become one of the nation’s premier softball contenders this season. After building momentum with a dominant regular season, which included a Big 12 title, the Red Raiders will now welcome postseason softball back to Lubbock as they chase the Women’s College World Series title.
The Lady Raiders’ postseason success in recent years has helped to elevate the expectations surrounding the program, and playing at home gives the team a significant advantage.
The NCAA Regional format features a four-team, double-elimination bracket, with the winner advancing to Super Regionals. Official seeding, matchups, and game times will determine who heads to Lubbock and what path Texas Tech must navigate to keep its season alive. You can find all of the regional locations listed here for the tournament.
Texas Tech will begin postseason play against Marist, with Ole Miss and Boston U also coming to Lubbock.
