The Texas Tech softball team, coming off its second consecutive run to the finals of the Women’s College World Series, continues to reload for another charge in 2027.
On Thursday, June 25, the Red Raiders dipped back into the NCAA transfer portal and secured a commitment from former Florida State third baseman Jaysoni Beachum, who earned all-America recognition in two of her three years with the Seminoles.
The 5-foot-3 Beachum batted .406 with 10 home runs and 69 runs batted in this season, her junior year. By drawing 54 walks, tied for fourth most in NCAA Division I, she had a .549 on-base percentage. She finished the season on a streak of reaching base in 50 consecutive games, tied for the school record.
Florida State was upset in its own regional and finished 52-10.
Among all-America selectors, Beachum was named to the second team by Softball America and third team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Beachum went to high school at Florida State University Schools. In her 2024 college debut for the Seminoles, she hit .417 with 16 homers and 66 RBIs. Softball America, D1Softball and the NFCA named her the nation’s top freshman.
As a sophomore in 2025, Beachum hit .304 with 11 homers and 45 RBIs.
Texas Tech was runner-up in the WCWS each of the past two seasons, finishing 61-10 this year and 54-14 last year.
