The Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball program is going to look quite a bit different this year. A lot of new faces will be joining head coach Grant McCasland’s roster this season.
On Friday, it was announced that Spanish forward Bassala Bagayoko had committed to Texas Tech. On Monday, he officially signed, with the Red Raiders announcing the news on X.
He is originally from Bamako, Mali, but has played in Spain for the past five years after moving to the country when he was 12. He averaged 4.3 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game last season for Bilbao Basket, which competes in Spain’s top professional league, the Liga CBA.
Bagayoko had previously declared for the 2026 NBA Draft, but went unselected. He is the ninth newcomer to join the Red Raiders ahead of the 2026-27 season. At 6-foot-10 and 210 pounds, he brings some size to Texas Tech’s roster, which should give them a boost as they look to get back to the NCAA Tournament.
