In the Big Country and West Texas area, there are two 2A DI districts that feature two of the deepest districts in the greater Abilene area — District 4-2A DI and District 5-2A DI.

Before diving into DCTF’s predictions for these stacked West Texas districts, four Big Country teams earned spots in Dave Campbell’s preseason 2A DI statewide rankings.

Stamford took the top spot among Big Country squads at No. 5, followed closely by District 4-2A DI rivals Hawley (No. 19) and Cisco (No. 21). De Leon snagged the No. 11 spot in Dave Campbell’s 2A DI preseason rankings to pace District 5-2A DI teams followed by Hamilton at No. 13.

De Leon quarterback Heston Jobe and Hamilton linebacker Halston Haile were recognized by DCTF as the Preseason All-District Offensive and Defensive MVPs, respectively, in District 5-2A DI.
