A second full moon for May is coming up on Sunday, May 31, according to the Farmer’s Almanac. The first full moon this month was on Friday, May 1.
This moon is known as a Blue Moon, and generally only occurs once in a calendar month. It won’t actually be blue but will be the smallest and dimmest full Moon of 2026.
It takes the Moon about 29.5 days to complete one cycle of phases (from New Moon to New Moon), so if a Full Moon occurs on the first of a month, there will be a second Full Moon – a Blue Moon – at the end of the month, too, states the almanac.
Here is what to know about the Blue Moon for May.
