Texas A&M's 2027 class ranked Top 5 in Rivals' updated rankings

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class features ten commitments, led by defensive commits on defense, while four-star athlete Hakeem Frampton is expected to play cornerback in college. Ranked as 247Sports’ No. 2 class, Rivals’ updated Industry Recruiting Rankings have the Aggies positioned in the top 5, coming in at No. 4, joining No. 3 Oklahoma as the only other top 10-ranked class with double-digit commits.

Every recruiting class is a peak towards the future, and combined with the 2026 signing class, which also features elite talent on defense, led by freshman five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, the 2027 class, in its complete form, will result in one of the more talented rosters acquired under head coach Mike Elko.

It’s impossible to project how every commit will pan out at the next level, given the current trajectory of several players from the 2025 signing class, including sophomore edge Marco Jones, who will compete for a starting job this fall, Nearly every one of the program’s ten commitments, especially on defense, should end up being starters or key contributors over the next three seasons.

Rivals writer Hunter Shelton, who released the current updated rankings, included a brief description for every cycle. For the Aggies, four-star safety Kamarui Dorsey leads the way as A&M’s top-ranked commit, for now.

“No program is better positioned to push for the top spot in the team rankings than A&M, as it already has 10 blue-chippers in the boat. Dorsey headlines an elite defensive back haul that also includes four-star CB Raylaun Henry and four-star safety JayQuan Snell, all of whom rank as top-70 prospects. Four-star QB Jayce Johnson has been committed since August. Four-star DL Myels Smith, four-star EDGE Kaden McCarty and four-star Elijah Patmon form another impressive trio on the defensive side of the ball.”

Yes, all 10 commits are considered blue-chip prospects with a chance to make an immediate impact once they step on campus. As long as Mike Elko is leading the program, defense will be the focus, as his development track continues to provide receipts after sending 13 players to the 2026 NFL scouting combine.
