Texas A&M’s 2026 season ended at the hands of USC in the College Station Regional earlier this month, and while second-year coach Michael Earley did accomplish his goal of leading the Aggies back to the NCAA Tournament, pitching issues and a lack of clutch hitting, especially from the program’s top three hitters, led to A&M’s early postseason exit.
However, throughout the season, the play of freshmen standouts Nico Partida, Boston Kellner, and Jorian Wilson was a peek into the future, specifically the 2027 season, knowing that Caden Sorrell, Gavin Grahovac, and Boston Kellner are all expected to depart for the 2026 MLB Draft. Partida, who slashed .313/.416/.563 with 55 hits, 12 home runs, and 43 RBI, was good for third on the team.
Halfway through the 2026 season, it was clear that Nico Partida is one of the rising stars not just in the SEC but nationally, and while his hamstring injury kept him sidelined for several games at the end of the regular season, Partida’s poor performance at the plate was only a microcosm of the Aggies’ issues at the plate during the postseason.
One of the top freshman infielders, Nico Partida, was named to Baseball America’s First-Team Freshman All-American list at third base, a position he will likely continue to play, but is also seen as a future shortstop by MLB analysts. Heading into the 2027 season, Partida is expected to become one of Earley’s top 3 batting options alongside Wilson, Kellner, and several transfer additions.
