What Texas A&M coach Mike Elko is doing on the recruiting trail can’t be measured in simply adjectives, reaching historic levels in the 2027 recruiting class after landing three more commitments over the past two days, including four-star defensive lineman Frederick Ards III.
Headlined by 5 five-star commits, blue-chip offensive lineman Mark Matthews was the program’s top-ranked player, followed by edge Zyron Forstall, IOL Kennedy Brown, safety Kamarui Dorsey, and cornerback Raylaun Henry. Sticking with the O-line, the Aggies are on the cusp of landing five-star OL Albert Simien, who is coming off his official visit last weekend.
While those looking for an angle from NIL perspective will focus on Texas A&M’s ability to pay for top talent, this is the case for every Power Four program with the funding to build top-ranked classes, while Mike Elko has proven his ability to close the deal, with a clear focus on development.
Third-year O-line coach Adam Cushing deserves a ton of credit for the Aggies’ ability to land both Matthews and Brown, while Simien, speaking with On3 insider Sam Spiegelman, continued to praise the Aggie coaching staff and the welcoming environment College Station offers.
“Texas A&M is in a good spot with me,” Simien told Spiegelman. “The rapport I have with the staff and the people in the building.”
Simien reportedly spent significant time with LSU transfer tackle Tyree Adams during his visit, gaining even more insight into what College Station has to offer as a community. His fit with the program is highly similar to Kennedy Brown’s, based on both players’ versatility to play multiple positions in the trenches.
If Texas A&M lands Albert Simien, it’s safe to say that the Aggies will be finished adding future offensive linemen.
