Watch Alabama transfer OL discuss his transition to Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s offensive line will look very different this fall after four 2025 starters were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, leading third-year coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing scrambling to add veteran talent from the transfer portal, landing four SEC starters, including former Alabama tackle Wilkin Formby.

After three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Formby decided to move on after serving as the program’s starting right tackle, and while his pass protection was spotty, Formby’s 6’7″ frame and established run blocking prowess were too good to pass up for Elko and Cushing, who were in dire need of a replacement for long-time starting right tackle Damtrious Crownover.

During the spring season, ending with the annual Maroon & White Game, Formby looked the part, but he allowed several pressures during the spring game, and he will need to continue refining his footwork and quickness after the snap. Still, the talent is there, and working with Cushing and S&C coach Tommy Moffitt should result in his most consistent season yet.

As soon as Formby made his way to campus, the coaching staff and every player on the roster, including the 16 other transfer additions, made the veteran big man feel at home, which the Alabama transfer expounded on during his recent interview with the SEC State of Mind podcast, hosted by Taylor Davis and Jason Campbell.

From the ‘big personalities” in the locker room to the competitive spirit of the newly formed roster, Wilkin Formby feels right at home in College Station and will be a significant part of the Aggies’ success in 2026. You can watch the full interview here.
