Cowboys Preseason: NFL releases national TV schedule, America's Team you say?

The Dallas Cowboys don’t make it easy for their fans to get a glimpse of their high-profile players during the NFL preseason, at least not under second-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. Last season, the starters didn’t play in any of the preseason games, as the first-time head coach wanted to ensure his new-look offense was kept under wraps until the games mattered.

This year, it’s unknown whether or not Schottenheimer will keep the same philosophy that resulted in the team beginning 1-2-1 last season. But even if Schottenheimer does play his starters more in the exhibitions, the NFL won’t be allowing a large chunk of Cowboys Nation to witness it live. The Cowboys were kept off the Preseason National TV schedule that was announced on Wednesday.

According to the league’s release, the following games will be nationally televised:

Dallas fans will still be able to catch the Cowboys on TV, but through local broadcasts and the NFL Network’s replay machine that shows each NFL game in the days following the actual contest.

The Cowboys will square off against two regular-season opponents as part of this year’s exhibition slate. They start things off August 13 at 7 pm CT in Seattle against the Seahawks. They then travel to Arizona to take on the Cardinals on August 22 at 9 pm CT. Things wrap up back in Dallas as they host the New Orleans Saints on August 28 at 7 pm CT at AT&T Stadium.
