A Texas A&M baseball infielder announced he is transferring to an SEC foe for his junior season on Monday afternoon.
According to a post on his social media account, Sawyer Farr will join the Oklahoma Sooners next season. He entered the transfer portal on June 3, following the conclusion of Texas A&M’s season in the College Station Regional Final against the USC Trojans.
Farr spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career with the Aggies, accumulating 42 starts and 58 appearances. The Fort Worth native hit .250 with seven RBI in limited action this year. His announcement marks Oklahoma’s third portal addition from a power conference, all while the Sooners compete in the College World Series.
His departure from College Station marks the fourth player to transfer out, as Texas A&M tries to retain and rebuild from last season’s efforts. The Aggies reached the NCAA Tournament after missing it entirely in Michael Earley’s first year at the helm, but there is still much work to be done and production that needs to be replaced this offseason.
The most massive position of need remains on the mound, following a lackluster performance from the 2026 pitching staff. Texas A&M wasted no time cleaning house, which included firing pitching coach Jason Kelly, who struggled to manage the bullpen.
Farr transferring to Oklahoma marks another potential hole in the Aggies’ infield, but there is plenty of time remaining for Earley to make a splash in the transfer portal and reconstruct at positions with little depth. Even though the season didn’t end the way the Maroon and White would’ve wanted, there is still plenty to look forward to after Texas A&M took a step in the right direction in 2026.
