Social media reacts to Texas A&M softball hosting regional

After another impressive campaign under tenured head coach Trisha Ford, the Texas A&M softball team will host the Bryan-College Station Regional.

The Aggies are joined by UConn, McNeese, and Arizona State, who will travel to College Station to compete for a chance to advance to a super regional. Texas A&M opens the regional against the Huskies on Friday at 1 p.m. CT, while the Cowgirls and Sun Devils square off at 3:30 p.m. CT.

The team that prevails from the Bryan-College Station Regional will travel to Austin, Texas, to face the Longhorns. This sets up Texas A&M for a potential Lone Star Showdown super regional against Texas, with a trip to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Texas A&M finished the season with a 36-17 (16-8 in SEC play) record, but made a quick exit in the SEC Tournament with an 11-8 loss to an extremely hungry Auburn club. Mya Perez has played a massive role in the Aggies’ lineup’s success in 2026, recording the second-best on-base percentage in the NCAA and leading the SEC, while also being one of the most intentionally walked hitters in the country.

The Aggies boast 11 wins over ranked opponents, including an 8-5 upset over then-ranked No. 1 Oklahoma back on May 1. Ford has led Texas A&M to the tournament every season since being named head coach in 2023 and secured the program’s first-ever No. 1 seed last year.
