Shooting guard commits to Texas Tech

Grant McCasland and the Texas Tech Red Raiders have made another addition to their 2026 recruiting class. Shooting guard Amari Barrett announced his commitment to the program on Sunday.

Barrett is from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and was previously committed to Ball State University, but reopened his recruitment in April. He has helped lead Millwood High School to a 27-2 record as a senior and back-to-back state championships.

He is ranked as the No. 278 overall player and No. 48 shooting guard in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 4 player from Oklahoma.

Barrett is Texas Tech’s second commitment this cycle, joining five-star combo guard DaKari Spear. It is ranked as the 9th-best recruiting class in the Big 12 by 247Sports.

They have also made three additions through the transfer portal this offseason, landing four-star combo guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn (UNLV), four-star point guard Cruz Davis (Hofstra), and three-star combo guard Damarion Dennis (Wyoming).
