Top Longhorns OL target moving up commitment date?

Texas recruiting has been scorching hot during the month of June and it seems that could carry into July. Ismael Camara is a top OL target for the Longhorns and someone whose recruitment hasn’t been typical. Camara is currently on track to finish high school in just two and a half years, meaning it’s been difficult to get him on many official visits. Texas did get one recently however and it’s seemed to change the tenor of this recruitment.

It’s been reported by many sources around Camara and Texas football that his commitment date could be coming faster than anticipated. It was thought he would make a decision shortly before signing day, once he had a chance to go on multiple official visits. It seems Texas made quite the impression on the five-star, which could land them his commitment soon.

It’s hard to express how big(literally and figuratively) an addition Camara would be. The 6’6”, 345 pound OL has been dubbed “The Freak” and it’s wellfounded. He’s been clocked topping 20mph and hitting a 44-inch box jump with questionable footwear at best. Camara’s ability to play both guard and tackle is special and he moves in space incredibly well.

Camara is a Kelvin Banks-type addition. He is someone that can step in as a freshman and be a starter from Week One. Where he fits in remains to be seen but I believe he can be special anywhere. This is a recruitment Texas has prioritized massively and it could be paying off.

Now, a player like this is not one other team will give up on after a commitment. If Texas does get his pledge soon, the defense will start immediately and continue until he puts pen to paper(and likely beyond). This is a true building block of an elite OL and if Texas can lock him up, he could be the next great Texas offensive lineman.
