Seymour man indicted in deadly crash that killed 2 from Lubbock

A Seymour man has been indicted for two counts of manslaughter connected to a deadly car crash that killed two Lubbock residents on Dec. 4, 2023.

The Baylor County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that Tanner Wayne Gillispie was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Wichita County Jail, a contract jail for Baylor County.

Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless convicted beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Anthony Rodriguez, 34, and Kimberly Perez, 31, both from Lubbock, were killed in a head-on collision about four miles west of Seymour on U.S. Highway 82, according to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The release said Gillispie, 28, was driving a pickup that crossed into the wrong lane and struck the oncoming Toyota driven by Rodriguez.

Gillispie was treated at a Seymour hospital for non-incapacitating injuries, the release said.
