Sheppard Air Force Base and other military installations are under orders for tighter security, a U.S. Northern Command media release said.
“Based on world events, U.S. Northern Command has directed additional security measures at all military installations,” according to a press release from the command.
The measures apply to all installations in the continental United States and Alaska.
“Employees and visitors to military installations should plan for increased security measures on the installation and/or longer wait times to access the installation,” the release said.
The press release also said the command was not aware of any specific threats to installations.
Installation commanders have the authority to implement and enforce and security measures.
The command “partners with federal, tribal, state, local and U.S. government agencies to defeat terrorism and defend the Homeland,” the release said.
