A former Wichita Falls police officer indicted in connection with the arrest of a woman in 2025 was processed on charges at the Archer County Jail Thursday afternoon.
Daniel James Wilson, 42, was booked into jail on two charges of abuse of official capacity and was free Friday on $10,000 in surety bonds, online jail records show.
Wilson was booked at 3:20 p.m. Thursday and released the same day, online jail records show.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless convicted beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The online Archer County Jail roster said the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office was the arresting agency.
Wichita County Sheriff William Rutledge said Wilson turned himself in there.
The city of Wichita Falls indicated in a media release Wednesday night that Wilson had been indicted on criminal charges related to the arrest of Victoria Lang but did not reveal details.
The city also posted videos on its YouTube channel that showed Lang, 20, being dragged by two officers from the McDonald’s restaurant on Holliday Street on Aug. 26, 2025.
Wilson was dismissed from the Wichita Falls Police Department, and ex-officer Douglas Gulley resigned following an internal investigation of the incident.
The criminal investigation into Wilson’s actions was handled by the Texas Rangers and Taylor County District Attorney James Hicks was appointed special district attorney to handle the case.
