Rowin Donaldson helped the Seminole baseball team achieve a rare feat in impressive fashion Saturday, May 24.
The senior right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter in Seminole’s 5-0 win over Mineral Wells in Game 3 of their Region I-4A Division I final series at Graham.
Donaldson recorded 11 strikeouts, one walk and two hit batters on 96 pitches. He hit 1-for-4 with one run scored from leadoff position.
Obed Reyes, the winning pitcher from Game 1’s 7-2 result, hit a two-run double in the sixth to extend Seminole’s lead to 5-0.
That helped Seminole bounce back from a 7-2 loss earlier in the day. Texas Tech signee Holden Hering earned the Game 2 win, allowing one earned run on five hits and five walks with 10 strikeouts over 6⅓ innings. He was also 1-for-3, his lone hit a grand slam in the fifth to extend a one-run lead.
With the result, Seminole advances to the state semifinals for the second time and first since 1962. It reached the Class 3A title game that season, falling 4-1 to El Campo.
Seminole will face Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the semifinals this week. The schools are separated by more than 530 miles.
