Rainfall to return in Coastal Bend starting June 1

After heavy rain affected the Coastal Bend area with thunderstorms and floods May 27, forecasters say the chance for more significant precipitation is on pause until the start of June.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported the Coastal Bend area received about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rainfall by 8 a.m. May 27.

The National Weather Service office in Corpus Christi said ongoing showers, and the occasional rumble of thunder, will continue throughout the day and diminish by nighttime.

A low chance of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast starting June 1, with temperatures to remain in the uppers 80s to mid-90s beforehand. There is a moderate heat risk from May 29 through May 31.
