Police ID man found dead in Lubbock roadway, investigation ongoing

Police are investigating the death of a 51-year-old man found early Friday after he was apparently hit by a vehicle in south Lubbock.

The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is conducting a death investigation in the 3000block of 98th Street, where police were initially called about 3:41 a.m. on March 20 for a report of a dead body possibly being hit by a vehicle, according to a statement from Lubbock police.

LPD officers responded to the scene and located Shawn Bowen, 51. EMS arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene, prompting the response by Lubbock Metro.

Initial information indicates Bowen was struck by a vehicle, according to police. As the investigation continued throughout the morning a suspect was identified, however no arrests had been made by Friday afternoon as the investigation is ongoing.
