Wichita Falls businessman Scott Poenitzsch announced Tuesday he will run for mayor in the Nov. 3 election.
Poenitzsch, president of Delta T Thermal Solutions and owner of Horseshoe Bend Cellars Vineyard, was in a four-person race for the position in 2023 that was won by incumbent Mayor Tim Short.
His campaign platform calls for making “judicious investment of tax dollars across all districts.”
It also calls for promoting investment projects “based on sound business principles with tangible returns for citizens rather than frivolous expenditures,” according to his campaign literature.
Poenitzsch pledged to limit his campaign spending to no more than $25,000 and urged other candidates to do the same.
Short has not formally announced for reelection but has designated a campaign treasurer. No other candidates had filed paperwork to run for mayor by Wednesday morning.
Besides the mayoral race, three seats on the Wichita Falls City Council will be up for election in November.
