Is 2026 national championship or bust for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns football team? ESPN’s Paul Finebaum says it is.
There’s a lot riding on this year for Texas and Steve Sarkisian has gone all in hoping to win a title with, what many consider, a generation quarterback under center. Sark also brought in Will Muschamp to handle the defense, spent the most in the nation on the transfer portal and has a champion calibre roster that includes a possible four Top 10 draft picks.
Speaking on “Get Up,” ESPN college football/SEC expert Paul Finebaum clearly thinks Sark has to win it all this year. Asked if it was “title or bust” for the Longhorns, Finebaum didn’t hesitate to heap pressure on Sarkisian.
“It is yes. You don’t get to this point with one of the most celebrated players in modern college football history and lay an egg like Texas did last year,” Finebaum said. “They not only have Arch Manning, they have so many amazing players that they picked up in the portal. They have one of the best rosters, if not the best in college football. Certainly the best in the SEC, they have to get to the title game.”
Texas has one of the toughest schedules in the nation with Texas A&M, Tennessee and LSU on the road, plus Ohio State at home and Oklahoma in Dallas. So even if UT has the best roster, it will still be a long road to the title.
