With Halloween just around the corner, it seems that the weather is playing a trick on parts of West Texas rather than bringing a treat.
The National Weather Service is forecasting sub-freezing temperatures for parts of West Texas on Thursday, prompting NWS to issue a Freeze Warning.
According to the NWS, the warning has been placed on Crosby, Lubbock, Lynn, Terry and Briscoe counties.
The NWS is forecasting the sub-freezing temperatures to dip as low as 25 degrees around 3 a.m to 9 a.m., with frost and freeze conditions having the potential to kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Part of West Texas placed under NWS freeze watch
While parts of the Lubbock region are under a freeze warning, other counties further south are under a freeze watch.
Counties like Andrews, Borden, Scurry, Martin, Howard, Mitchell and Glasscock are set to be impacted by sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28℉ from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
The NWS advises individuals to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold and to either bring pets indoors or ensure that they have warm, dry shelter.
