“Not enough can be said about the father you were to me and my brothers,” Goncalves wrote. “The impact you made on our lives will stick with us till we meet again. Rest in Peace Dad. Goncalves Strong. Always.”

The second-year guard has started seven of eight games for Indianapolis, playing 436 snaps for the offense this year.

It is unclear if Goncalves will be away for the team at all.

The Colts have pledged their support.

“Any time you lose someone you love, especially your father, obviously it’s very tough on any human being,” Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said. “We’re here for him, support him, and just thoughts and prayers are with him in this time.”
