Wichitans will celebrate civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with events in January and February.
A prayer breakfast will be Saturday, and a talent show will take place that afternoon. A parade will be later in February.
In addition, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday, is Jan. 19, close to his birthday coming up Thursday. And February is Black History Month.
MLK breakfast
The 37th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast will be Saturday at the Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall in Wichita Falls.
The breakfast line will open at 7 a.m. with the program beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Guest speaker this year will be Dr. K. Shelette Stewart, a business consultant, associate director of executive education for the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business and author of “Revelations in Business: Connecting Your Business Plan with God’s Purpose and Plan for Your Life.”
Tickets can be purchased at the MLK Center at 1100 Smith Street by cash or check only. Prices are $25 for adults and $15 for youth. Children under 4 are free.
This year, tickets will only be available at the MLK Center, Director Michael Davis said.

MLK Center Scholarship applications are available on the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation website at wfacf.org.
The one-time, $1,000 scholarship is for college students or graduating high school seniors who attended high school in Wichita or Wilbarger counties in Texas. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 1.
Talent show
A Rhythm of Texoma Talent Showcase is set for 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Backdoor Theater, 501 Indiana Ave. The program is to include singers, dancers, musicians, poets and spoken word artists.

The MLK Multicultural Parade has been set for 1 p.m. Feb 21 in downtown Wichita Falls to celebrate unity and inclusion, according to a flyer.
