The cause of death is still pending. It could take six weeks for the medical examiner’s report to be finalized.

Police responded to a report of a drowning in the 600 block of South Shoreline Boulevard near Water’s Edge Park at 4:04 p.m. Smith was pulled out of the water and taken to a local hospital, where he died, Commons said.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
